Previous Post: 50 Top Niche for Blogging

In the previous post, I have listed 50 top niches to start a blogging website. And, if you have gone through them; it is most likely that you have picked a bunch of them. Or, you might be confused about which niche to choose to start your blog!

When I started my blog, I was writing about any topic and trying to connect that topic with the website’s core objective until I realized my blunder. I had no content strategy. No plan of what I was going to post, and therefore I was confused in my corner.

I don’t want you to repeat any such mistakes.

Therefore, here are a few important tips to consider when choosing your blogging niche. These tips will help you avoid making wrong decisions in choosing the niche for your blogging.

If you choose the right niche, you will enjoy it, if you choose the wrong niche, you will regret it.

1. Choose What Overlap Your Passion & Expertise

Blogging is a passion, and choosing the niche that you are passionate about can prove to be highly useful for your blogging success. A niche that matches your passion will boost your interest and keep you consistent.

So, follow these steps:

  • Prepare a list of topics that you are passionate about
  • Prepare a list of topics that you are good at.

And then check both that list and figure out one or two that overlap. Also, check the earning possibility and pick that niche into consideration.

Note: It’s not compulsory to always choose the niche that you are passionate about. You can simply choose a good niche, learn about it and develop your passion for it.

In conclusion, choose what that your mind and heart both approve of.

2. Narrow Down Your Niche

General niche is going to hurt your blogging business.

Having a general niche is too confusing not just for you, but for your website visitors as well. They will find it hard to connect with you because they fail to identify your website’s core idea.

You will also struggle to build a clear structure of pages. The articles will be hard to categorize in a broader sense. You will not be able to write a substantial number of articles on each of the categories. Your expertise will not be apparent.

So, narrow down your niche as much as possible.

For example: if you choose clothing as your blogging niche, then it is going to take a long time and high effort to cover a good portion of the clothing niche. However, if you narrow it down, then you can either make it following:

  • Men clothing
  • Women clothing
  • Kids clothing
  • Women wedding clothing
  • Sports clothes
  • etc.

With a narrowed-down niche, your audience connects better with you. And, you can cover all the topics in that niche easily.

3. Plan Earning Method In Your Niche

Earning is a motivation for bloggers. It is an immense pleasure to get your first earning from your blogging business.

And, how early and frequently you earn from blogging depends a lot on the choice of your niche. If you choose a profitable blogging niche, you will earn better and earlier. Else you have to wait and struggle more.

A profitable niche includes one with high commission affiliate programs, one that is trending, and one that people love to read more and are likely to purchase products in.

An interest-based approach for blogging is best when you are financially stable. So, you choose the niche just because it resonates with your interest. And, you don’t stress much about earning.

But, the GOOD NEWS is that the interest-motivated niche earns higher after a certain time. Because you rock if that’s your interest.

4. Have Something Unique!

Being different is not easy. And being common is not so cool!

So, if you are starting a blog and you decide on a niche, then ask yourself; what’s the different thing are you going to offer? Or simply ask, how different are you offering something?

If you have the answers to these questions, then it’s more likely that you can attract a good number of visitors to your blog from the competitors.

Whatever niche you choose for your blog, there will be several existing websites doing good in that. And, to make yourself stand out from them you need to get something unique. Your unique feature or method will help your audience to identify you for longer and keep engaged with your blog.

For example: Consider this blog ahealthblog.com, which writes on the health & fitness niche and concludes with a detailed infographic in each post. You will find well-designed, elaborative infographics in every blog. That’s their unique offering to their readers.

5. Trending with Futuristic Vision

Some blogging niches are old, some new, and others are evergreen!

However, the niche you choose can have trending and non-trending topics and it’s advised to focus on topics that are trending among the readers. Write about what’s coming rather than what’s going!

For example, it’s great to choose fashion, food, travel, business tips, etc as they are evergreen topics, but they have huge competitions as well. And, you can write about cryptocurrency, trading, pets, parenting, science, and technology, etc, as they are popular and a good niche.

However, if you write about old video games, and gadgets then nobody will read them.

6. Check for Competitors in the niche you choose

Competitors are your friends. They are ones who have already traveled the path you are planning for and therefore when choosing your niche, list down 10-15 competitors and check what exactly they are doing in that niche.

  • List down their top-performing article.
  • Check the affiliate programs they have joined to monetize their post
  • Try to figure out their content strategy
  • Find out how their social platforms are performing
  • Their audience interaction on various social platforms
