How to Create Your First Video?

The success-failure of your YouTube channel depends majorly on the video content you create.

For some channels, even a dozen of videos is enough to engage a huge audience and collect enough subscribers, likes, shares, and watch hours. Others struggle to build a viewers-base even after hundreds of videos.

Therefore, your video content is of utmost importance.

Different Ways to Create YouTube Videos

  1. Face or activity recording video: When you record your content directly facing the camera or directly captures the real activity and wording, trim out the unwanted or extra stuff, and upload.
  1. Animation: When you use different tools to create animated graphics, add voice-over, and finally create your video content.
  2. Screen-recoding videos: This is a simple and effective way to explain things directly by recording your desktop or mobile screen with or without voice.
  3. Live streaming: With all your content ready, you can go live on YouTube and converse with your audience and grow your channel. You can do this in your studio or outside when on a trip sharing your activities.
You can mix up different ways to create a single video.

Tools or Software You Might Need!

Recording videos will be the most challenging part of your YouTube journey.

Recording videos include setting up your recording space with a presentable background with the least noises,  recording on a perfect frame, editing your recorded video, adding required text and creating thumbnails, etc. before the video is ready to upload.

If we have the right tool, these challenging task becomes easy and fun!

To help you record quality video, gadgets like a ring light, color mic, background green screen, tripod stand, voice filter, etc., would be useful. Do not invest in these until you are confident to face the camera.

I have some recommendations below:

After recording your video, editing is the next thing you would need to do. Editing involves trimming unwanted portions of the recording, improving the brightness and contrast of the video, reducing the background noise, adding video elements like text or graphics over recording, etc.

Software like Kinemaster, InShot, Filmora, ClipChamp, Awesome Screen recorder, etc., are some of the popular video editing tools for beginners.

Follow these steps to record your YouTube Video:

  1. Build a recording space with proper lighting, low noise disturbance, and a presentable background.
  2. Fix your camera at the right distance to ensure that you capture the planned frame. Avoid loose stands, and be presentable (as per your content requirements) before recording.
  3. Avoid using the front camera of Mobile phones, as things get inverted.
  4. Prepare your script or flow of your video content.
  5. Practice 5-10 times before the final shooting.
  6. Stay energetic, loud, clear, and confident in front of the camera.
  7. Use editing software (recommended above) and make it perfect.
Here’s an example of one of my students who started her vlog. She shares her thoughts on various day-to-day topics.

Make sure that the title and description are written with keywords to ensure effective ranking of your videos on YouTube search results.
  2. Video Elements: To add subtitles, end screen, and cards for effective content delivery. You may not have access to some of these as a beginner.
  3. Checks: Your content is checked by YouTube to ensure that there are no copyright issues.
  4. Visibility: In this final step, set the video as private or public. And, click on the “Publish” button to make it live.

Congratulations!
