Your security is always in your hand. This small setup that I am going to share in this article will help you add an extra layer of security to your Bluehost hosting account. 

With two-step authentication enabled, a password alone is not enough to sign in. A token verification is also required to get access to the account.

So, how to set up a two-step authentication in your Bluehost account? Follow this step immediately after purchasing Bluehost hosting

Additional Tip: Always make a strong password with numbers, capital and small alphabet, and symbols. And, don’t share it with anyone whom you don’t trust. Change it on a regular interval. 

Steps to Set Two-Step Authentication in Bluehost

To set up two-step authentication, log in to your Bluehost account and click on the account menu (available on right top corner)

In the security menu, you will come across “Two-factor Authentication”. 

Bluehost allows you to set up two-factor authentication in two ways:

  1. Google App Authenticator
  2. Through email token

Note: In this article, we will learn to set up using 2nd method (through emails)

You will come across, “Don’t have a smartphone?” Click here to proceed.

Enter the email in the step 1 as shown below and click on “Send email

Bluehost will send a 6-digit token to your email. The email will look something like this:

Enter the exact 6-digit token in step 2 of the Bluehost two-step authentication setup panel, as shown below. Click on “Verify Token“.

On verification, a success popup will appear as confirmation.

Great! 

You have successfully enabled two-step authentication for the Bluehost account. So, next time you try to log in to Bluehost using your password, it will ask for the token sent to your registered email. 

Enter the token and securely access your account.

Don’t underestimate the security of your website or hosting. 

Not just a Bluehost account, use two-factor authentication on your WordPress account (using a plugin), and also to your Gmail account as well.
