A published article without an author bio and picture looks incomplete. In fact, these things matter in Google AdSense approval as well.
Having an author bio on your website’s blog with author picture makes it look genuine. Readers feel more connected with the articles if they know who wrote them, and what they are in person.
For a website built on WordPress (as in this blogging course), it’s really simple and 5-minute task to add your author bio and author pictures using Gravatar.
In this article, I will guide you to add an author bio in WordPress without any extra plugin. As using extra plugins makes your website heavy; it’s better to do it with the inbuilt feature of WordPress.
In the end; it will look something like this:
You can change the font style, color, or weight of text, from the theme option (WPOcean is used in the above example).
Let’s get started.
How to Add Author Bio in WordPress?
First, we will learn to add an author bio in your website’s article, which can be done from the “Users” option of the WordPress dashboard. Follow these steps:
Click on “Users” in the WordPress menu
2. Click on the “Edit” option below the user’s name
3. A panel with complete information of that user will open up. Scroll down to the area of “Biographical Info”. Write down the Autor bio there.
4. Below “Biographical Info” you get the option of “Profile Picture”.
However, it’s not possible to upload pictures of the authors, from this option in the WordPress. To add a profile picture, you need to create your Gravatar account and upload the author’s picture in there.
After writing down biographical info, Save the setting.
Let’s now learn to create your Gravatar account. But before that, we will know about Gravatar and understand how it works.
What is Gravatar?
Gravatar is short of Globally Recognized Avatar.
Uploading profile pictures multiple times would be time and effort-consuming. Therefore, Gravatar was developed that allows you to upload your picture once, and it appears on various gravatar-enabled platforms.
Created by Tom Preston Werner, Gravatar is used to create profiles for the web. Gravatar is usually used by bloggers as well brands to identify their digital identity.
Gravatar is a product of Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com. Automattic has also developed Jetpack, Akismet and other popular tools. And, to use these products, you need to create an account in WordPress.com
Your website is built on WordPress.org, which is different from WordPress.com. Let’s learn to create a WordPress.com account and use Gravatar

Overall, setting up Gravatar is easy! Let me show you how it appears after the Gravatar account is all set. We will check in the users’ section of WordPress again, and it will look something like this.
The same will show up in the front-end as already shown in the introduction section.
Hello! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My blog looks weird when viewing from my iphone. I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to resolve this problem. If you have any recommendations, please share. Cheers!
Please let me know if you’re looking for a article author for your weblog. You have some really great articles and I believe I would be a good asset. If you ever want to take some of the load off, I’d love to write some material for your blog in exchange for a link back to mine. Please blast me an e-mail if interested. Thank you!
